Is that a Dragon with freakin Disintegrator Cannons on it?...

…YES IT IS!

This is one of my entries to the MWC September Conversion Contest. I made this conversion with the intention of bringing a little bit of the fantasy back into 40K. The Dark Elf Black Dragon model was just too cool to pass up, so I tried to find a way to make it a 40K vehicle and this is what I came up with.

Essentially on the table this would count as a Dark Eldar Ravager with 2 Disintegrator Cannons and one Dark Lance. I added subtle cybernetics all over it and modified the rider to have more Dark Eldar looking armor vs. Dark Elf. A left over Finecast Archon helmet was just the bit of dandy fopism I needed for the rider and voila!

I magnetized the 60mm base to the resin Plinth I picked up from Secret weapon Miniatures to allow me to use it both as a gaming model and a display model. When I wnat to game with is I simply "pop" the plinth off.

This wounded Marine is certainly saying to himself "Holy Throne! What the hell is that thing!"

  1. Awesome, absolutely awesome.

Surprised you went with a Ravager over one of the flyers. Could have been a great Voidraven

  3. Really nice dragon you have there.
Completely crazy and lovely at the same time.

    Maybe even a bit cute...

  4. Thanks for the compliments guys!

The reason I didn't make it a Voidraven is cause I didn't want to put a ton of huge missiles on the Dragon and reduce the sleekness of him. I was making this primarily a display piece first and a gaming piece second.

Also, I have Voidraven already: http://eyeoferror.blogspot.com/2011/03/voidraven-is-painted.html

I'm playing the Dragon as a Ravager with a ton of extras:
    Aethersails = Wings
    Envenomed Blades = Dragon Claws
    Chain Snares = Dragon Claws
Retrofire Jets = Sudden wing reversal
Grisley Trophies = The whole general scariness of the dragon

  5. Nicely done! I really dig it - Really neat takke on the the beast capturing/using aspect of the Dark Eldar. Alternately, why can't there be evil Exodites? I look forward to seeing it painted!

  6. Thanks again everyone!

@Mordian7th...seriously there has to be Dark Exodites somewhere. Like Pre Dark Eldar that wanted to find a pleasure planet or something.

Something filled with tons of slaves and crazy ass beasts. Heh.
