Mariners Blight - A Maritime Inspired Lovecraftian Chaos Marine Army

This is a new army I've been working on in secret; Mariners Blight.

They are a maritime inspired Lovecraftian Chaos Marine Army combining inspiration from The Shadow over Innsmouth as well as the Cthulhu mythos with 1800's style diving suits and nautical details.

I will have several updates over the next few weeks, but for now here's some Marines.

They were made from a combination of MK2 & MK3 Armour with Morback's BioHazard Helmets.
I literally cut legs off from MK2 Armour and swapped with MK3 Armour to create a more chaotic appearnce. Some Maxmini mutation bits were mixed in with possessed bits to achieve an aquatic mutation effect on the Close Combat Marines.

The bases were from Secret Weapon Miniatures. A Combination of their Blasted Wetlands mixed with Bone Fields designed to look like bone infested murky swamp land. Think the Dead Marshes from LOTR.

More coming next week, Terminators and a Dreadnought

  8. Wow you made them! They look really good, wish my green stuff skills could produce them. I assumed they were shop bought.

  9. You have made me go out and purchase several HP Lovecraft novels so I can drown in the cosmic horrors of the nether world.

  10. Damn son! How long till they're all built. I've dug up a "new" army out of my bits box. Inaugural game at the new place, say 1250 pts?

  11. Those look great! The helmets were an awesome choice. Those combined with the claws and tentacles really tie the models together. The Champ really stands out well too. Nice work!

  12. Thanks for all the compliments guys!

@HotPanda, you won't be disappointed reading Lovecraft. He's the grandfather of Modern Sci-Fi Horror. :)

@Ratman, sounds great. I have 1250pts of these guys built up now. Let's shoot for like the 2nd or 3rd weekend in April. We can game on the new patio and drink a shitload of Tully. :D

About the tentacles, yes I did make tentacles on the Mariners Blight Dread which I will be featuring Monday, but the tentacle on the Champ here was bought from Maxmini. I used this tentacle as the inspiration for the ones I made :)

Next week will be a post on the Termies, Dreadnought and my recently finished Raptors.

  13. Captain Nemo is your alter ego and he was spotted wearing his Sunday Best over at The Chaos Manifesto. Hope you don't mind the shout out as I had no choice in sharing these epic models and the adventure that they are taking you on.
