Mariners Blight Jet Bikes

One of my final units for Mariners Blight…a squad of pre-heresy style Jetbikers.

These guys use Kromlech's Iron Shark Bike kit with some minor modifications (Tow Hooks). The riders were made just like my other blight infantry with the exception of the legs. They were regular Marine biker legs that I modified to look more like MKII Armour.

The bases I made from a combination of Secret Weapon Miniatures Bone Fields bases and regular calvary bases. I imbedded the SWM bases at both ends then filled the middle with pumice paste and assorted earthly remains.

  3. I really do love the models and can't argue that these aren't great looking, though I miss the undersea theme that comes through so well in the other minis from the Mariners so far. Perhaps some small propellers similar to those found on an onboard motor would fit into the back without taking away from the jet bikes' purpose, while still adding that little bit of sea theme.

    1. I do hear what your saying about the undersea theme. Hot Panda made an awesome suggestion about painting the front like a shark mouth...which I think I'll do. The propeller thing isn't a bad idea but I will be doing jet exhausts on the back like what I did for my DE jet bikes....So I don't think I could put a propeller in there with the exhaust in place.

The paint job will certainly blend them in to the army a lot as well.

    2. Agreed. Just trying to add a little suggestion. Your work is superb and I am sure the paint will tie them together.

    3. You did get me thinking about adding some more nautical items to them. Like maybe a life preserver on the side of one of them... or putting some dried fishing net over one of the fins.... ideas, ideas :)

  5. I concur with Mordian7th on the bases a lot of effort that's paid off. Perhaps if you're going to try and follow OSTs advice to make them more 'seaworthy' my immediate thought when I saw them was Disney's version of the Nautilus for 20,000 leagues unders the sea. Perhaps the iconic prow crest might just make them a little more 'submariney'. Here's a cool pic that's got some awesome patina on it too:

    Awesome, awesome work.

  6. Those jet bikes are fantastic. Could i maybe suggest a fixed harpoon on the front below one of the guns, you could have them attached to a couple of skulls by wires like the air barrels attached to the harpoon in Jaws, the skulls could be to identify who's kill it is.

  7. I love how the front of the jetbikes look somewhat like the heads of squamous amphibians, and lend themselves well to the lovecraftian theme.

Perhaps a few barnacles and seaweed might also lend the underwater theme? The bikes themselves seem rather plain compared to the marines...

  8. Excellent looking unit.

To add to the nautical/predator theme I was going to suggest removing the exhausts top rear and add some sort of fin, but now i'm thinking that might not look that great though and possibly spoil the look.

  10. Thanks again guys! I'm certainly going to add some barnacles and other nautical weathering when done. :)

  11. Your ability to gain my imaginations trust can only be compared to that of a Grifter. The sheer indulgence of these mariners has drown my mind in darkness of your minds depths. Hope you don't mind the shout out on my weekly top-x. Cheers.
