"When the stars were right, They could plunge from world to world through the sky; but when the stars were wrong, They could not live. But although They no longer lived, They would never really die."
"There are horrors beyond horrors, and this was one of those nuclei of all dreamable hideousness which the cosmos saves to blast an accursed and unhappy few."
“As I shivered and brooded on the casting of that brain-blasting shadow, I knew that I had at last pried out one of earth's supreme horors-one of those nameless blights of outer voids whose faint demon scratchings we sometimes hear on the farthest rim of space, yet from which our own finite vision has given us a merciful immunity.”
For several Dark Eldar units I had to paint in a way I've never painted before; leathery bat-like wings. I didn't want to go the route I've been down before of a simple 2 tone drybrush and wash. I wanted something special, yet quick and effective. SO this is what I came up with.
This project has been a long time coming… One of the first models I conceived of for Mariners Blight finally become a reality. A mutated octopus , diver daemon engine of pure steampunk Lovecraftian evilness!
Here's Several Tanks I've been working on for Mariner's Blight. All of them were OOP Space marine tanks that I upgraded with new Chaos tank parts and Baneblade engine exhausts.
I've recently been feeling an urge to go back to my modeling roots a bit. Maybe it was the recent move I did and seeing all the models I forgot about in storage.
Ahhhhhh Inspiration, you can be an elusive bitch sometimes…
The thing with trying to capture inspiration for a new 40k project is that one tends to "stay in the box" when searching for inspiration being that there is a MASSIVE amount of reference to 40k and other wargames online. Want to make a new chaos army? Just search Chaos armies and get the ball rolling …But this gets stale so quickly…
GET YOUR HEAD OUT OF THE BOX. Here's 4 artists that might get the creative juices pumping.
It's been a few weeks since I added anything for Mariners Blight. I moved my family to a new house in Dirty Jerz, 3x the size of what we lived in Philly. The same week I started a new higher paying job as a Design Director working from home and needless to say it's been hectic. The past few days things have settled down and I've had the chance to get creative (In a non-dayjob fashion) and here's the result.
Here is one of the centerpieces for my Mariners Blight Army, a Contemptor Dreadnought modified to look like an oversized deep diver. I drew inspiration not only from actual 1800's diver outfits, but also from Big Daddy.
This is a new army I've been working on in secret; Mariners Blight.
They are a maritime inspired Lovecraftian Chaos Marine Army combining inspiration from The Shadow over Innsmouth as well as the Cthulhu mythos with 1800's style diving suits and nautical details.
