Mariners Blight Raptors

So Wrapping up my Blighted week are my take on Raptors.

They are mostly based on MK3 Armour, w/regular Chaos CC arms and some MK2 Armour pieces. The Biohazard heads and Iron Pattern Jump Packs are from Maxmini as are the Tesla Cannons which I'm using as more retro proxies for Plasma Guns.

The Commander is using a zombie head from Maxmini for that rotten swampy look. I also decided that his lighting claws should be mutations rather than manufactured weapons. Just "felt" right with the whole Lovecraftian mutation thing I have going on.

I'm still debating on wether or not I'll add any cinematic jet exhaust effects like I've done with my Dark Eldar. Probably not this time.

  1. Wow! Love the tesla cannon look, and using the possessed arms for the lightning claws definitely feels right. Go, man, go!

    1. Dude, those tesla cannons were so cool and so 20's sic-fi looking. I had to get them. I just wish they made a pistol version :P

  2. Its just too bad that this beautiful army has to be played using such a terrible codex.

  3. Wow! Just how much 'amazing' can you pump out in a week?

  5. Excellent stuff, just out of curiosity, in fluff terms, are these guys Unidivded. For my similarly themed (but less well executed :P) force, I created a new deity but it is unclear what the origins of the deity are, whether it is actually a Chaotic entity or whether it's just another manifestation of Tzeentch (a la Nyarlathotep)

    1. They are an undivided army. I have assault marines that are Bezerkers, Infantry that counts as Thousand Sons, my termies have Mark of Nurgle and my Boss man is Basically Abaddon. (Not finished yet, but will be within a few weeks)

My fluff is that they follow Dagon who is a lesser Chaos god that has traits of all 4. He manifested himself on planets that are very dependent on oceanic lifestyles :P

  6. Ah excellent, the god my chaps worship is Khephis (hence the Heralds of Khephis name, very imaginative :P). Look forward to seeing more of your work, fantastic stuff - I'm going to be super-concious of trying to make them look a little different now, having used the same Corsair icon (really like what you did with it though), Iron Armour and Bio Hazard heads and what not :p I've been working on a small loyalist counterpart for the too, which had the working title of Myrmidions, they still have a semi-aquatic look (assault marines with tridents), fin-like helmet crests on certain troops.

My main 40k focus at the moment are my Celt Marines (or Space Welsh :P) though lol

    1. From the looks of it you are going for a more "Sea God" worshiping type army, hence the tridents and what not, where as I'm going for "Fisherman that have mutated into fish" kinda look :P

Hopefully that alone will differentiate the armies, heh.

    2. They're kind of both lol (the Loyalists use the tridents rather than the Renegades) they're from a oceanic world where practically everyone was ship (or city ship) borne - sometime following the establishment of the Chapter there's a bit of a schism (keeping the details grey, both sides are a bit dodgy) and eventually the world is subjected to Exterminatus with the Renegades still on in it - "entombed beneath the waves" as it were; the Loyalists, after trashing their homeworld are now a fleet-based Chapter of boarding specialists (they always were but this is emphasised). they thought that the renegade lot had been dealt with, but they come back with the "Innsmouth look" - that's the key bits in a nutshell lol

    3. I never enter the tournaments or the like, I'm in it for the fluff and generally only play against a small group of friends so the chance of more than 3 people and dog seeing my army is minimal lol (other than what I get round to posting on the blog). Have you had any ideas for daemons and the like? For a Daemon Prince or larger daemonic beast I was looking at using river troll parts as the main components

    4. I never play tournies either so they mine will not be scene beyond my local circle and the int-nets.

I am going to do a Daemon prince that's primarily going to be a Nurgle prince with the armour modified a lot so it's more diver like with a custom Cthulhu head and wings from that Vampire Counts giant corpse bat thing.

That's going to take a few to sculpt all the tentacles or the head :P
