2012, what a ride!

The apocalypse didn't happen today when the thirteenth b’ak’tun of the current age came to an end.

Nibiru decided not to impact earth from out of no where and the alien mothership never made contact and enslaved the human race; so now I can remember 2012 fondly without the threat of impeding doom!

Armorcast Cinematic Effects Contest Results

A few months ago I posted that I was entering 3 Dark Eldar Units into Armorcast's Cinematic Effects Contest… And I am very excited to say all 3 units placed in different categories!

Dark Eldar Pain Engines

"Down from the skies it came, buzzing and clicking, a bristling profusion of antennae and a glinting carapace the color of dried blood. We thought we had more pressing concerns, for to repel a Commorrite invasion is to fight a hurricane of blades. Bolters spat fury. Then my brothers began to fall, soundlessly, to the ground. Brother-Captain Alkon was unresponsive. I wrenched off his helmet to find a wizened skull leering back. It was then the xenos attack doubled in its force…"

Dark Eldar Coven Warriors

I am truly disappointed that the cruel fate has placed us in this position, such that I really have no choice other than to unleash my warriors against your population centers. If only you would lay aside these foolish hopes of protecting your resources and return to your homes and families, much bloodshed and woe could be avoided.

- Comm recording discovered at the Delta 9 massacre

Dark Eldar Archon / Sybarite Conversions

"I will never forget what I saw at Obsidian Station. The bones of five thousand brave men lay scattered about the winding corridors. Their blood was slick upon the walls and floors of the dormitories. Their innards were hung from control panels like grotesque decorations of some insane celebration. But not a single skull was to be found; taken as sick trophies by these despicable attackers."

-Inquisitor Absolvus

Dark Eldar Wracks

"My grounds. Where screams are flowers, and pain their fragrance."

-Haemonculus Gruemenael

Armorcast Cinematic Effects Contest Entries

Armorcast is having a contest for their Cinematic Effects range again this year. This gets me excited as I often use their cinematic effects in my miniatures, mainly in my Dark Eldar Models. I decided to reshoot a few minis and submit.

Dark Eldar Grotesque Conversions Finished

They say a picture is worth a thousand words….

Fall fires burning neath black twisted boughs… Sacrifice to above

"Spawned in the darkest pits of the universe, the piratical Eldar are a curse upon all races of the galaxy. For untold thousands of years they have preyed upon us, stealing forth from the shadows and dark places on their raids of terror and violence; massacring or capturing all whose paths they cross. That they are utterly evil and inhuman is without question."

High Lord Khouron - Imperial Commander of Astherax

Dark Eldar Coven Raider Conversion

"Why do we ride atop these elegant craft? The better to hear the screams of our prey as we ride them down, to savour the fear etched on their faces, to taste the tantalising tang of their blood in the air as an appetiser before the feast. But most of all we ride them so that the slaughter may begin as soon as possible."

-Dariaq Bladetongue of the Pierced Eye

Dark Eldar Mandrake Proxies Painted

How to Airbrush Leathery Bat-Like Wings

For several Dark Eldar units I had to paint in a way I've never painted before; leathery bat-like wings. I didn't want to go the route I've been down before of a simple 2 tone drybrush and wash. I wanted something special, yet quick and effective. SO this is what I came up with.
